Ever wondered about a perfect answer to  define "What is color" ??

Likewise It is almost impossible to  define "Design" .  Ever since the  invention of Wheel  until   the most recent  advancements in  the never ending refinement - it is all about design.   Should it be  the use of colors or the shape, it is important for us to  understand that design is  mere representation of our needs in an Usable format.

A result of a few like minded or evolving iterative procedure based on an economical or  biological evolution which brings a change to survive the competitive demands  to  either maintain an ecological balance or the technological advancements  is a design.  In Simple -  Design is a change as  a result of a cause or a need through an iterative transformation.

Design is not limited to what we see or the creativity of an individual. It is a platform on which a medium is constructed. It could be an engineering marvel, a Complex Web Architecture, an Illustration or an interface that communicates with an user to accomplish a goal. A well defined design guides the user through a process seamlessly.

For example - A Web designer is different from a Graphic Designer or an Artist - so is an Interior designer and an Architect. The word "Design" is relative to the field of its use.

Remember : With the right artisan and right tools comes a masterpiece.

Below are some of the examples that would throw more light to this perspective:

Early humans in the Palaeolithic era (15,000 to 750,000 years ago) discovered that heavy, round objects could more easily be moved by rolling them than bulky, irregular ones. The realisation was made that some heavy objects could be transported if a round object such as a fallen tree was placed underneath and the heavy object rolled over it. Courtesy and credits

It is  easier to picture fire more as an agent of evolution than a product of evolution. According to the Illuminating Engineering Society, “the first attempt at man-made lighting occurred about 70,000 years ago. The first lamp was invented made of a shell, hollowed-out rock, or other similar non-flammable object which was filled with a combustible material (probably dried grass or wood), sprinkled with animal fat (the original lighter fluid) and ignited.” Handheld and building mounted torches progressed well beyond their rudimentary start but the basic principles remain the same: the fuel source is some type of oil, wax, or combustible material surrounded by non-flammable material.. The above example would illustrate the difference between two designs that work cohesively to  perform a  task that could vary in complexity.   Computer as a hardware and  the  "User Friendly" visual design " within that helps the user to  use the hardware so  ergonomically "Designed"   to  complete the action.
